Yes, Richard made instructional DVDs, both portrait and landscapes. His art instructional book, ALLA PRIMA II: Everything I Know About Painting and More, has helped artists worldwide. Our First 2021 Event
What was the event, “Celebrating RICHARD SCHMID 2021”?
Celebrating RICHARD SCHMID 2021 was a two-day LIVE virtual event in honor of Richard Schmid. Artists worldwide painted together, enjoyed special presentations, and short films, watched top artists discuss Richard Schmid’s influence with live online painting, and more—all from the comfort of your own home and at no cost to you.
Saturday, Oct 2, 2021 was a 24 Hour Paint-A-Thon with artists (YOU!) participating from all over the world in tribute to Richard.
Then on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021 from 12 noon to 6 pm EST, was a sit-down and enjoy short films starring Richard Schmid, top artists painting live in their studios in tribute to Richard Schmid, special presentations, and more! All from the comfort of your home.

We are working on the best possible way to create an Alla Prima Book Club and find the right venue. We follow Richard’s example of excellence, joy, and his mission statement, “…to bring to the world of Art the unique classical training I received, and my subsequent experience using it and adding to it as a painter…”
