            • MICHELLE DUNAWAY
            • NANCY GUZIK

  • Together, they will demonstrate and teach the profound concepts of design structure, inspired by Richard’s short essay on page 96 of his latest book, PORTRAIT AND FIGURE PAINTINGS.

  • Richard writes, “I am always thinking of a value design. The aspects of my painting are all about design and value patterns.” He spoke of the way light shapes on light and dark backgrounds intertwine—creating a dance of values, subtle shifts in color, and expressive form. Michelle and Nancy will explain and show through their demo and with other brilliant examples.

  • Q&A throughout.

  • Drawing from years of experience as a professional artist and educator, Stephanie credits much of her mastery of color to Richard Schmid’s color charts, featured in Alla Prima: Everything I Know About Painting.

  • Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of today’s most accomplished artists as she explores the various color principles that shaped her approach.

“What sets you as an artist apart from the rest of humanity is your ability to give visual form to an idea—the skill to transform it into something more than an insight or perception alone. Art happens in the process of this unique transformation. You must be able to grab your viewer’s attention and hold it while you get your message across.”
